A rare and iconic pair of Postmodernist bar stools designed by Philippe Starck for Spanish manufacturer Merak in 1983. These sculptural stools exemplify Starck’s early design language—bold, minimal, and infused with a sense of playful futurism.
The legs are crafted from tubular chrome, lending a sleek, industrial edge, while the circular tops are made of beech plywood, offering a warm contrast in tone and texture. The stools combine sharp geometry with practical elegance, and the open, lightweight frame makes them as functional as they are visually striking.
Produced in limited numbers by Merak, this early Starck design pre-dates his global fame, showcasing his formative approach to reshaping everyday furniture through radical design. These stools stand as collectible pieces that capture the spirit of 1980s Postmodernism and the early ingenuity of one of the world’s most influential designers.
