This bold original vintage screen print by Jan Pienkowski, created circa 1961, presents a striking Pop Art interpretation of a pansy. The flower is rendered in rich violet and deep black tones with a vivid yellow centre, dramatically set against a saturated green background. The simplified form, strong contrasts, and graphic immediacy are hallmarks of early 1960s screen printing and reflect the emerging Pop Art aesthetic of the period.
Produced as an authentic original screen print in 1961, this work was published by the influential publishing gallery GALLERY FIVE. It is signed by the publisher and accompanied by their artist provenance, confirming its originality and historical authenticity.
Elegantly housed in a black frame, the print is ready to hang and makes a powerful visual statement. As an early example of Pienkowski’s work—prior to his later international recognition—this piece represents a rare and highly collectible example of mid-century British Pop Art printmaking.
An outstanding acquisition for collectors of vintage Pop Art, 1960s screen prints, and mid-century modern design, combining decorative impact with strong artistic and provenance-led appeal.
